YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) State Women’s Wing president and MLC Varudu Kalyani on Wednesday criticised the government for surge in crimes, especially against women, and erosion of law and order across Andhra Pradesh.
Addressing the media at the party headquarters, Ms. Kalyani alleged that the NDA government betrayed the trust of people in the last 18 months, leaving women vulnerable and public safety in disarray.
Ms. Kalyani said despite promises of six welfare schemes for women, the government neglected their implementation, leaving victims without support.
In contrast, the previous YSRCP administration had introduced the Disha App and 18 dedicated police stations to ensure swift response to emergencies, she said.
Under the coalition government, the State ranked 36th nationally in law and order, with response times for emergencies averaging 26 minutes, well above the national average of 18 minutes.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had openly acknowledged the rise in crimes against women, she claimed.
The MLC reaffirmed that the YSRCP would continue to support women and safeguard their rights. She called on the coalition to urgently address women’s safety and implement promised welfare schemes without delay.
